We won't be able to go but, if you're able, Fred isn't lying. It's really very awesome. We went a couple of times when we lived up there and it was a whole lot of fun. For Labor Day weekend expect having to pay to play.

I'm going out tomorrow on a scouting run. It's been 3 years since I've been. I want to check it out, make sure nothing has changed since then, and find some good camp spots. I'll post up on Monday what I find.

Well, i was just out in the backyard,,,, playin' with my wood,,,,,,,,:doah:

cuttin' a bunch of it in to manageable chunks,,,SHOULD have enough for two nights, if we don't go all crazy with it,,,that is unless someone else might happen to bring some too:thinking:

guess i'll see how it looks when it's on the trailer, may end up bringing more anyways, just to be sure......

from the looks of it though, i am going to have to scrounge up some more from work for the Moab trip,,, oh well:p:

going to try to get my inverter hooked up and mounted this week too, so we have "some" power for the blender :p: (the plastic container'd blender i might add):D

    Fred,,,how'd it look up there???

Wheeled the Dodge on some bunny hills :haha: 2WD in that torquey monster= big time wheel hop. Of course 70 psi in the tires didn't help :haha: 4Hi and 2nd did the trick.

Jump started a couple of yahoos stuck in the middle of nowhere, chit chatted with a few guys out there, and tooled around all over. Lotsa folks camped on the main roads. Found a good camp spot, out of the general quad dust areas. will post up tomorrow with some details.

    Directions

Directions- 17 to 40 East. Take exit 201 to 89N towards Page. Approx. 12 miles north, At Mile marker 430 1/2 at the top of the hill, Turn right on FR 545, at the sign towards Wupatki and Sunset crater Nat'l monument. You will pass a sign that says "Cinder Hills OHV" at Mile marker 427 on your way North- Do not turn there, keep going North. When you get to the National Monument entrance about 2 miles in on FR545, stop at the shack. Tell the Park attendant you are not stopping on the monument, but passing through to the Cinders. There will be no fee if you don't stop to see the monument. (I talked to the Ranger yesterday on my way out about this). Travel 6.5 miles from 89 to the turn off of FR244. You will pass the main entrance to Cinders at 6.3 miles, which is FR776. The next right is FR244. Drive a little way in on 244, maybe 1/4 mile, look right for my gooseneck, in case I'm out playing.

FR545 is nicely paved, easy drive, and pretty scenic. Check out the Lava Flows as you're driving through the Mounument. FR776 is dirt, washed out in spots, very rough. FR244 had very little traffic, and seemed to be off the beaten path of most of the quad folks. It was pretty quiet there too. I'm going there Friday AM to beat the crowds and make sure we get the spot I want, with lotsa shade and room.

Look at the map on the forest service site (see my 1st post) to get a picture of the directions. As usual I'll be on Amigo channel- CH 10 on the CB.

    :D :D :D
