When you juxtapose an old standard or even any calm music during a chaotic sequence of events, such as in Dr. Strangelove, The Silence Of The Lambs, and Metropolis (Anime version), it works really well and is haunting?

Does anyone have a theory on why this is? Does it extend beyond a base novelty of a strange mix of visual and audible?

Has anyone ever seen the opposite? A mild scene with heated music or score?

    Creepy...

Instead of the traditional fast pace music which is used to manipulate base functions of the viewer, such as anger, fight-or-flight reactions, et cetera, it forces the viewer to examine the scene, character motives, and more detailed events and situation.

    I think.

No. RJ did say Dr. Strangelove though, if that's what you were looking for.
