Which CK trucks came with a mechanical fuel switch valve to switch between dual tanks?
my dad's old 1985 3/4 ton 4x4 w/t400-350 4:10 gears did
this had an electric switch
Nope, all mechanical. Cable and knob. No elec. anything.
Good try though......keep trying....
Ummm...did those even have dual tanks? I thought the tank was in the cab behind the seat. I confess, I don't have the books for those years, so if they had an aux tank, that answer might be partially correct.
Ohh..I have to go play a game.....answer still to come in about 45 minutes......keep guessing.
Hint: Search is your friend.......
I have a 1976 (at least thats what they registered it as) cab that has the mechanical pull knob in place of an electric switch, with some sort of cable that hooks to the switchover valve. I hadn't had one of those before, and it's the only thing I haven't disconnected yet to yank the cab off the frame. I didn't want to cut it in case it was a rare item. Come to think of it, I never actually did go pick up the title for that one cause it was just parts, so I'm not sure on the year.
At least 73-74. I believe the electric switch came in '75.
My '74 sixpack had one of those mechanical pull switches factory. Didn't work by the time I got it three decades later, so it was replaced with an electric one.
According to the GM Parts books for '73-84, I'll assume the '85-up has elec., it's
1973 or 1974 C Trucks, with 454 motor only!
'73-74 K, or w/o 454 got elec switch.
Dremu, is your sixpak the oem motor?
Well, it's a bigblock anyway. I've not ungreased the motor to see if the numbers match, one cuz I'm lazy and two 'cuz I'm afraid what I'd find.
It is a C/20 crew cab with an alleged 454, so that's on the money for the books. That's cheating 'cuz I looked it up in the same book, though, when I had to replace the thing... soon as I saw it was gonna be impossible to get, I went electric.
That does make sense cause I did notice that the cab I have was originally a 2wd and the center was cut out for a 4x4 centerhump. Must have used a '73-'74 2wd cab and combined the title with the 4x4 frame and used the frame's year.
i don't have it ,but my 86 cab has the switch.
wait that makes no sense,i don't have it. MY old cab didn;t have it.
