Was thinking about this weekend as my wife was stranded 2 1/2 hours from home on the side of I-65. Blown radiator hose in the car that cost me $175 tow to the nearest relative so I could drive out and fix it.

Has any one ever thought about putting together a data base of Phone numbers of different willing ck5 persons willing to help in an emergency while traveling from state to state. Might make traveling to 4x4 events, and family vacations in the k5s a little easier on the mind. knowing that you have a list of people you could call depending on where in the country you are who have specific knowledge of our k5's and even have spare parts available to get you up and running again could be one less thing to worry about while in our travels. I know most people don't like to have there numbers published where 9 million people could get them but it could be set up that a few willing volunteers could give out their number and they could have the list of all the support trucks located by state. Just seems like all the good events coming up this year require a cross country adventure to get to and i know i would be willing to venture a little farther out if i knew help was a phone call away. (besides the expensive tow truck) Just venting and thinking at the same time

Someone started something like that but then it never progressed any further... maybe if I get time I will try to work something up... I got some free space on my website. I'm also trying to create a feedback thing for people who have sold and had a good/bad experience to let others know it's a good by or keep looking....

It is a great idea i think, but you will have to have this book printed out when you leave unless you have a laptop, just writing it down would work too but you or the person in trouble could have problems reading it. how about this one person member or non, that a hefty chunk of you trust with the info, compile all the data into a word pad document (should only be a page or 2 w/ small fonts at first) that can be e-mailed out to someone like a chain letter until it gets through the entire community, don't know just ramblin

i was thinking about the same thing. having a file with our info. but we would have to have a moderator for it. that way we know who has the latest phone file. similar to a F.A.Q. where sugestions/changes are sent to one person and that person makes the changes and redistributs the list...

    just some more feedback...

I think it's a great idea. I live in Memphis just a few short miles from I-40, the most traveled interstate in the country.

Hmm, I could maybe utilize are existing database and come up with something, if I made it for members only I could control it so only other members would be able to see the phone numbers I think, I just wouldn't want anyone passing by to see your phone numbers. Just thinking

Maybe a 800 number of some sorts - that has a message for emergenies. It could be as simple as a message on the end of the line that has 5-6 serious K5 members that can be reached incase of the need.

    maybe 800-K5 CHEVY or 800-CHEVY K5

Something that can be remembered. The message will give the caller a way to get ahold of someone if needed. That way, you can get someone on the phone that can help, or direct you to someone in the area you are stuck in. Sometimes you may get stuck somewhere bad without a list of names. I am not sure how this could work but just an idea.
