Ohh boy did we have some fun! WE ALL TOOK SOME HITS!
    Me
destroyed the whole driverside rear 1/4 from the door all the way back. Just about got a hard top window, Few other small dents and scrapes. I think I seperated the tread or broke a belt in a tire. Got some bad vibes on the way home.
    Yeild2me
Think he got off pretty lucky...may have a small dent or 2, he faired better than the rest of us.
    Boss
Front spring pin sheared letting the axle slide back and swamper ate up a front fender (damn shame, truck is in killer shape He got the pin fixed up before he headed out). Couple light dents. CB antenna, Possible fuel pump. We may need to send out a search/rescue party for him if he doesn't make it home.
Depdog Blew a short side U-Joint taking the inner axle with it. Had to fire up a grinder to cut it apart to get it out.
Keith Blew a driverside U-Joint at about the same spot. Looks like he killed the Lockright in the process.
BigJBear saw that and pulled all 150ft of cable out of his new 8274-50 and rode it up. He took body damage on driverside rear 1/4 and passengerside door will never bee the same.
Titanic took some body damage in the driverside rear quarter and a pair of underware and they were not his. He poped a tree and set a guy flying that was sitting on it.

Well I'm already typing up a proper trail report. I managed to forget my Camera so I'm collecting pictures. Guys get me what you have and I'll get it to Steve.
I had a good time. Got to meet Boss for the first time and see his new rig. It's nice. He has all the good stuff on it. I know I was jealous. D60 front, Rock ram, 14 rear, real nice clean installs on everything. SWEET Truck. Man he was just about unstopable. He was doing killer. First time on trails like this for him. Hi picked great lines all day.
Well like I said I got a story already started in the word processor. There were also film crews on the trails the CK5er's ran. They have Vid and we were told some of the pictures will be sent to various mags so watch for the Dixie run stories in a couple months! The price of the Vid will be worth it to See Titanic on Slick rock. WOW he was on it. Major crowd pleaser. Never would have thought a Sub would get air like it did. I heard people that were watching talking about how ALL the Jeeps were having trouble and winching. How the heck is the Sub going to make it. The thing is just plain a monster. Sounded like a drag car coming up the rock. It was an impressive display. All the people watch were screaming and cheering. It was wild ride. I at one point saw the whole bottom of the Sub. He gets out like it's no big deal. all calm and collected like he just drove up a dirt road LOL. He at that point winched the least. He did the rock without winch. Had to winch a little in the rock garden on the way up.
One of the other guys has the information about getting copies of the vids and once they are available I'm sure it will get posted.

I don't need no damn shop manual, I got a pornographic memory.

Well I'm going to see if I can knock most of the dents back out. I will not be able to get the tail light bolted in otherwise. Yes it's that bad. About half the fender is flatted to the inner bed side. Pushed in hard enough that the sealant around the wheel tub cracked. We had 12 trucks on that trail ride and all had damage or problems. The only one withou some body damage was a guy with a solid axle S15 Jimmy. His damages was a over extended driver shaft and tweeked the splines in the process. Took a air grinder and fixed that up enough to work.
Mine was second worse body damage. My bud has a 79 Bronco and took it so hard in the fender behind the door that the door no longer latches!

    Re: CK5er\'s at Dixie Run

Awww MAN!!!! I'm so glad to be home!! Well, actually, I'm at work right now, tired as hell!! Funny, as I was leaving, I remembered that I was only on 15psi. It was too late to turn around so I kept on going. Fuel pump quit on me once again, on the twisty roads (scary), but fired immediately back up. Pulled into a gas station to air up and then noticed the Passenger side front tire had a huge Deep gash in it!! So, whooped out the HI-Lift and put on the spare and then proceeded on. Got some wicked vibes on the ride home. I'm thinking it's b/c I lost some wheel weights back there. 12hours later, Got home around 1:30am!! Slept like a baby and now I'm here.
This morning, I accessed the damages.
    Let's see
Sheered from spring bolt (like you mentioned)
    rear passenger quarter dent
    front driver fender smashed!
    swamper tear
front diff guard smashed (but saved the diff cover!![IMG]
front winch bumper smashed into front fender
    dented in rear passenger wheel!
Fuel Pump kept going out on me causing me to stall!
    That's basically it!!
    It was a BLAST!!!
it was good to meet everyone finally. All of yall had some really nice and capable rigs.
Grim's rear driver quarter really bit it HARD!! That will be a hard fix brother!
Both Dep broke an axle stub and ujoint on slick rock
Keith broke the axle ujoint, on slick rock
BigJBear really bent up his rear bumper, but I think he made out alright
I don't remember Rob (Yield2me) having too many damages, but I could be wrong.
Titanic, smashed in rear driver quarter on a huge log, but pushed the log several feet back!! It was amazing!! I got a good pic of you titanic, with some air!! I think Titanic was the only one I saw that made it up slick rock with out a winch, it was amazing!!
All I have to say is Wheelin' in Tellico, especially after the rain on Friday night, was tough!! Tires really couldn't bite the ground! Wheelin down there aint like nothing I've seen around here, it was awesome. Next time I go, I will be locked front and ATLEAST 38" meats!!!
Thanks Grim and JBear for chaining my front axle in place and Grim for the spring pin (I can't believe you had one!!) (last thing on my mind to carry).

    Re: CK5er\'s at Dixie Run

Man what a blast. I learned the value of those rear wheel spacers this weekend, the the guys that had them were able to have the tires slide along the bank while I let my rear quater slide along the the banks of many ruts. At one point I had a tree stump filling up my wheel well. I could move forward or back about 6 inches. Finally I decided to bite the bullit and take the damage, I gassed it and with Grim and my wife pusing on the top I got off the stump with a readjusted rear 1/4 in front of the wheel. I will take the hammer to it this week end.
I don't know how this happened: On the way home my powersteering starts acting up. I figgured I killed the pump on the trail. No big deal I'll fix it when I get home. Crusing along about 60 MPH and the truck starts to smoke, but the P/S starts to work again. "This can't be good" I think, the truck can't fix its self. I pull over at a gas station and pop the hood and the P/S mounting bracket has broken and the pump has fallen out of place. It dropped so the harmonic balancer was rubbing on the P/S resivor and the pulley was cutting through the P/S hoses. When that happened it pulled the belt tight and I had P/S, again. I managed to safety wire it back in place and drove home the rest of the way with no more excitement. Oddly enough it all stayed together and I still had some degree of assist.

Yikes Bear!! I remember hearing your pump scream for dear life everytime you turned, but couldn't imagine your bracket ripping off!! Now, that's scary!! Glad you made it home ok. Did yall ramp yalls truck in the RTI contest? I wanted to, but I really had to leave, it was already getting late for us.
Grim, I will get your pics as soon as I download them. Hopefully will have some time tonight.

Yeah I got to ramp. The ramp was 23deg. They were eyballing it on some crude markings on the side of the ramp and the guy that was the eyballs was about cross eyed. They said I pulled a 857. That doesn't sound right. On a 25 deg I ramp 752. Either my truck has loosend up some or they figured it wrong.
Cool I look foward to seeing the pics. I'll try to finsh the wright up then next couple of days and as soon as we get some pictures I'll get it all sent to Steve.

Wow that sounds like fun. Except for all the busted/dented/mangled trucks that is.

Question - the u-joint breakage, was that on D60's or D44's/10 bolts?

    Re: CK5er\'s at Dixie Run

The Ujoint breakage was on my Dana 44 Passenger side, the stub is still usable as a spare. The cross is in good shape, blew the caps to pieces and it ate the inner shaft.

Keith had a 10 bolt front and blew the drivers side ujoint. I had Neapco Brute Force joints and he had Spicer. His warn shafts lived though the joint luckily and I had a spare. We both changed them on the trail, cause you aint getting out of where we were in 2wd! The rest of the trail still had some nasty spots on it.

Boss glad to meet and wheel with you. I know what you mean about glad to be home, I left at midnight and got home at 3 a.m. and will today unpack the K5 and get the gear straight. I GOTTA GET A D 60 FRONT!

I have some other small dents and man oh man did my rockers take some HITS this time out. Whoee, just lots of scrapes and rock dust though.

I am going to look through my digital pics now to see what I got.

    Re: CK5er\'s at Dixie Run

glad to see you guys made it home safe. we had a late start because of all the stuff we had to do. keith and ryan stuck around and helped me take the swampers off and put my "small" 35" BFG's back on. c02 is ticket, that impact made easy work of 4 tires. i cant believe the size of those jeeps!!! 1 ton, big bolcks, and HUGE tires. some made our K5's look small.
Boss--damn good to meet you and fran. i hope she had a good time. i know the look on her face at trail 9 was worth a 1000 words!! of course the same could probably be said about the look on ours! you have one sweet rig, and once you get a locker in the front you will be UNSTOPABLE!!!
jim-when are ya going to install those rocker knockers!!LOL ole "candycane" took some licks, but kept on chugging. that last part of trail 9 was killer (tree stump w/ rock ledge). 35's are getting too small for that place!!!!
Titanic--dude, that is the biggest, baddest burb i have ever seen, and def. the favorite at 9. 1 ton burb on 44's, on slick rock, built small block roaring, ON ONE WHEEL!!!!! then the log episode with the awesome climb to the top!! i only wish i would of got it one film.
grim-aka mad man on 32's. i wish "dollar" would of been with us, that thing can flex!! but with 32's, i can understand you choosing to keep her at camp. Keith and i where talking about those center pins you had on hand for Boss, and couldnt believe how important those are to have as spares.
Dep- "Swampers-buy them and they will dig." i remember you saying that over the radio last time and you were right. Kristen told me as we were heading up 5 "I am so glad you got these tires". and after the winch fest on 9, that ends the reasoning for a winch!!! sorry i didnt get to hollar at you before you headed out, but i was beat from lugging jims 45 ton snatch block up and down 9!!
keith and ryan-thanks for sticking around sunday and helping us get everything loaded and swapped over for the trip home. even more thanks for winching me up 9!! i sure was glad to look up and see ryan running at me with the hook in hand and saying "told ya we would come back and get ya"!! talk about a winch clinic.

To whoever the dude in the teal TJ-i didnt catch his name, put he was really patient with the fact that i didnt have a winch and was always helping everybody out. thats what its all about!!

As for us, my water pump went out on the way home, so i pulled into an Auto Zone in Hickory NC picked up a new one and a lower radiator hose, filled everthing we had w/ water, topped off the overflow tank, and just watched the temp on the way home. its leaking bad, but made it. getting ready to change it in a little bit. Kyle had some bad poop that wouldnt come out, and after a quick stop at K-mart for some suposotories(sp), the bad poop came out and we were on our way. overall averaged about 11.7 mpg with the family, gear, trailer, tools and tires. not too bad.

just like last time, i found some weak areas that will have to be addressed before i head back that way (locker in the front, winch etc) but we had a blast and it was GREAT seeing you guys.

Thanks for making it an AWESOME weekend!!!

Sounds like a blast guys. I am going to make it a point to be there next year sometime. Sounds like I need to do a bunch of body protection mods. Hey Depdog, you arent thinking about going 1 ton are you? Whats wrong with you man??? LOL I run the same Neapco Joints in mine as well. I would say Tellico is definately more hardcore than Ive ever wheeled. Keith knows my stomping grounds. Grim, sounds like you need the tub, not me!!! Boss, I have been eyeballing your K5 for some time, its quite a rig! Cant wait to see the pics .

Yeah I'm trying to find out that guys name (guy with the Teal Scrambler). He was a good guy and I want to send him a thanks. He was the one that spotted the sheared spring pin on Boss's truck. It had only slid a little at that point but it was enough that the fender had already taken a hit from the swamper. That guy layed back waiting for us at Fains Ford when we had to stop and put the GBR feild repair on Boss's Blazer when the axle slid back about 6 inches. BigJBear and I Come-a-longed the axle back into place and cranked down the u-bolts and put a chain on it to keep it from sliding back into the fender. Was good enough to get it back to camp. The guy came walking back just as we were finishing up to check on us. He hung back the whole way to make sure we got out. Was damn nice when he could have taken off and made dinner. He came back when Bosses truck stalled out too. If I can get the guys E-Mail I'll let you all know if you want to send him a Thank You.
Yeah Tellico has been as about as tough as I have ever seen. 5 and 4 are about as messed up as I have seen. other than the Jeep eating tree and the rock garden 5 and 4 were concidered the quick ways in. Not any longer! They use to have a easy ride at Dixie run that stock Cherokees could run without much fear of ripping the side off. Not this year. The Medium rides were darn hard.

Nice, now all we have to hear from is Titanic and Keith, and he is damn good guy too. He definately hands down put on the best damn show on slick rock!!

Yield, glad to hear you got home alright too, 8hours is still a long ride home. sorry to hear the water pump gave.
Dep and Kieth. By the way yall wheel and stomp on it, yall definately need a 60 up front!! I heard yall talkin' about looking for em. Good luck on the search, they're out there, just harder to find, especially for the right price!
Kieth, after seeing your CO2 in action, that's definately getting put on the wish list!
Grim and Jim, thanks again for yalls help! Couldn't have made back to camp without yalls help. The spring bolt is the last thing on my mind for a spare!
If you can, definately get that guys name and email in the Teal Scrambler. He and his passenger were damn good guys. Helped us out all the way. And I believe his scrambler put up a good fight on Slick rock too! I have no shame, he gave me a good tug, when both my axles got hung up on that one big a$$ log and I couldn't move. I think that is when my cb antenna ripped off and Bear grabbed it for me!
    Boss
ps, you guys will get pics[IMG]. I was looking through them last night on the camera before the battery went out and saw some great ones of everyone!

Glad to hear everyone made it back home. We were worried about that fuel pump on Boss's truck. Yield, its always the part you don't think of that lets you down. We ran into a group on the way out looking for a Chevy pitman arm. I wouldn't even thought of that breaking. I am going to get to work posting pics on my site to day.

Me and Keith made it back to Hotlanta OK. As soon as we got to town we dropped off the film, we had so good pics too. Keith is working on getting some pics posted. Even though I didn't take the Suberban on the trail I got a dent and my CB antina ripped off! About an hour from home a deer jumped out and hit me in the back right side, it moved the back end good! I think it will pop out Ok.

Ohh yeah you took some trail damage too! hahahaha You blew out your pants pulling cable and had some air conditioning going for the rest of the day LOL!
See I keep telling you that you should have swapped that Burb for my 79 Blazer. If you had been in the Blazer The truck would not have been as long and the dear would have missed you all together! hahaha.
Glad to hear you guys made it home ok. Sorry to hear your burb got hit by a suicidal dear.

I don't need no damn shop manual, I got a pornographic memory.
