Oh good lord... /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif The idea is slick (no pun intended) but I wonder how they react to being bashed on rocks...

Well, they dont want to take it out on the road or it might get the pretty plastic all scuffed up.. then you couldn't see through it and you would defeat the whole purpose. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

I was at a rock crawling event this weekend and some of the trucks had those clear diff covers. Appearantly they hold up or they were sponsored by them.

I've seen a video wehre they take a sledge hammer to those covers and they take it.. so I know they could take an impact.. but a sharp rock would go right through.. and those are the ones I'm beefing for. I think its a good idea, but for street trucks or mud machines.

Maintenance is simple- Wash with soap and water only. Chemicals such as brake fluid, gasoline, paint thinner, etc. will damage or destroy the look or integrity of your cover.

I spill that stuff all over the place at least once a week. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I dont know about that if it was a piece of Lexan it might hold up. The engineneer here swore by this stuff. We took a piece of it a put it in a good strong frame and shot it with a 44 mag hollow point, it barely made a scratch.

Every oil change or before any long distance runs /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I probably do too much maintenace, but every fall the diff fluids gets drained and filled, t-case drained and filled, antifreeze drained and filled (I installed petcocks in the bottom of the block where the screw in plugs were originally), etc. My trucks are old 78/80 and I had bearings go on my 14FF when I first got it due to lack of maintenance (P.O.). I was on the side of the road in a Northeaster when it locked up. Ever since then, I have looked at it as cheap insureance (........and frostbite protection). And YES I AM ANAL /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

    I find it odd....
they say the D70 is on back order, but the D60 front/rear is "now shipping" they are all 3 the same cover.....

anywa, i like them. but it would be on a street truck or something. not even a 4x4.

It could be handy for me as I drive a lot of water and change my fluid every 2 months or so. Maybe if you could put a rock ring over it, it would be ok.
