Arab news network interested in lack of security on US border

Al-Jazeera to look at open U.S. border
Arab news network interested in lack of security
    http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/a...RTICLE_ID=44987

The Arab TV news network criticized by the new Iraqi government and others for its anti-American bias and willingness to carry the messages of terrorist organizations, including al-Qaida, is headed for the U.S.-Mexico border to document how easy it is to enter America illegally.

Al-Jazeera has contacted Minuteman Civil Defense Corps leader Chris Simcox to try to arrange interviews. Simcox, who rejected the request for cooperation with the TV network, says al-Jazeera, seen by millions throughout the Arab world and elsewhere, is producing an hour-long documentary news special on lack of security at the U.S. southern border.

Al-Jazeera reporter Naisser Hssaini mentioned the increase in apprehensions of illegal aliens known as OTMs – other than Mexicans. These foreigners increasingly include Arabs, Muslims and others from the Middle East. The reporter also mentioned his familiarity with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement police of catching and releasing OTMS – particularly those not specifically known to be on any terrorist watch list.

"The group has been denied requests for interviews by Minuteman Civil Defense Corps organizers but they still insist on filming the groups’ activities along with the rest of the media during a July 4th weekend mission near Arivaca, Arizona," said Simcox.

Simcox has contacted the offices of Arizona's two Republican U.S. senators – John McCain and Jon Kyl – to invite them to do interviews with al Jazeera, "so perhaps they can explain to the viewers of this news outlet just how secure America's borders really are."

"The offices of the Arizona members of the United States House of Representatives will also be contacted to alert them to the presence and the intent by the al-Jazeera news crew to film the lack of security along the U.S. border with Mexico," said Simcox. "The office of the Department of Homeland Security will also be notified. The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps also wonders just what DHS would tell al-Jazeera about the condition of our border security."

Simcox also mentioned the U.S. Border Patrol has already been notified.

"Would we allow Japanese or German television to film the unsecured border during World War II?" asked Minuteman spokeswoman Connie Hair. "These people broadcast to the enemies of America. It's not a news story, it's recon."

The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps is the citizen border patrol that virtually stopped illegal crossings from Mexico in a highly trafficked area of Arizona. It is now making plans for similar actions in other areas, other states and along the Canadian border.

nah, we'll just cut their heads off... as for our media, we'll cut their tongues out, and chop off their fingers. they need to learn to keep stuff quiet.

Not much to say except I said that the boarder was a joke a long time ago.
Maybe this will wake them up? Nah, doubt it.
They might already be here by now anyway.
Just doesn't make any sence to me ever since 9/11 :(

    i agree.

i say put .50 Cla's every 1/4 mile on BOTH borders. a NICE high power Scope(this would suck at the south border around noon...) and PLENTY of rounds and an NVG scope. make it $5.00 a head that you have to pay for killing ANYONE inside a certian area that is CLEARLY marked. id pay 5 bux to 86 someone who cant follow the rules....

It's funny to hear everyone Bi$$h about the liberal media when it's the conservative administration that's not doing anything about the problem. I've said on here many times before that Border security has gotten progressively worse since 9/11.

I don't want to hear about how the previous administration didn't do anything either. No they didn't but they also didn't have 9/11 happen under their watch. After 9/11 the focus should have been A. capture OBL and as much of Al Qaeda as possible B. find out how those people got into this country and put a stop to it and C. improve border security

    Instead we get Iraq

This is also an inaccurate statement. They helped a bit but to say virtually stopped illegal crossings is a gross overstatement.

Thank you... I'll save my comments then. And by the way, there is a lot more border security than many of you know about. I won't go into detail, but it's there. Just take is as fact from a guy that was privy to secret info while active duty. Alot is attempted and none succeed.... at least none that have gone forward with anything. Wait, maby that was 24.?.? J/k. Really, though, the border patrol isn't the only line of defense.

You're right. The National Guard is a big help building fences and laying down tank traps to stop drive throughs.

    That's a tough issue.

If we do close down the border along our Southern end they'll just come in on the coastline or up North. Your going to need some more advanced technology and planning than just a giant concrete barrier.

If you think harsher measures are required then how far are you willing to take it, would you accept a shoot on sight policy? That's just about what you would need to stop people, real fear of imminent death.

Would you accept a chip implant that identified you as a US citizen, anyone targeted by Satellite or ground network without a chip would be rounded up or nuetralized? It sounds crazy but hey, who knows. No one ever thought we'd have cameras & satellites watching us except sci-fi writers.

Mohammed Atta and his boys were in-country in '97-98 IIRC, getting set to start their flight training. - Klinton's 2nd term

Our Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were bombed, simultaneously, in 1998.- Klinton's 2nd term

The USS Cole was bombed in Yemen's harbor in 2000.- Klinton's 2nd term

Attacking another nation's Embassy, and attacking another nation's warship(s), are considered Acts of War... yet Klinton's response to these acts of war was to cook off a couple Tomahawks in the general direction of Sudan and Afghanistan, and send some nastygrams through the State Department. Boy howdy, that's showing the enemy we care! :surepal: :surepal: :surepal:

We figured out that bin Laden was behind the Embassies and the Cole; why didn't Willie go after him? Hmmm, maybe he was too busy fingerbanging Monica in the Oval Office, or forgetting about the blowjobs she gave him in the Oval Office, or not knowing what the word "is" means... or maybe he really was naive enough to think that a couple T-hawks would convince a religious zealot that he shouldn't attack us.

William Jefferson Clinton had three years to do something about a known problem, a problem that involved a planned terrorist attack on American soil. He did very little.
Had the 2000 election gone the other way, 9/11 probably still would've happened, because IMO Al Gore would've continued on the path that Clinton had paved - ignore the problem, it'll go away. However, back in the real world, there's lots of people outside our borders who want to see our people dead and our Nation destroyed.

Maybe you should go back and read my post again. We are talking about Border security NOW and Clinton has nothing to do with Border security NOW. The borders are less secure NOW and no matter how the Right tries to spin it it's this administartion's fault. It's June 28, 2005, the Bush administration has had plenty of time to deal with this problem and what have they done? Nada, you can't blame this one on Clinton my friend.

    1. Maybe you should look again at what I quoted directly from your first post in this thread. That alone is what I responded to. Nothing more, nothing less.

    2. Re-read my post. You'll see that I did not disagree with you re: the security of our borders (or lack thereof). Nor did I attempt to blame the border situation on Clinton.

From what I can see, the US/Mexico border was a joke long before Clinton became Prez. And you're right, the borders have become less secure. TSA is a pathetic joke, ICE was a good concept that quickly got smothered under the usual bureaucratic wet blanket, all the security agencies have to deal with political restrictions that seem designed to ensure the only people that get hassled are the ones they're trying to protect, and Congress keeps cutting the budgets of those same security agencies. As those of us outside the Beltway figured out long ago, that's not the way to secure the borders.

I was on det at Miramar in the summer of '99. We were operating for the day out of Brown Field, which as you probably know is only a couple blocks from the border. I saw a group of illegals climbing the fence and jumping into the US, and pointed it out to my pilots. They called Brown tower and told them the exact location; tower called the Border Patrol and it took them almost 30 minutes to arrive. Of course the illegals were long gone; at the 20-minute mark we actually told them not to bother because we had lost sight of them all! As we found out later, the agents had to call their district HQ with our report, then the district HQ had to call DC with a report, then DC had to make a decision, then DC had to call the district HQ back with the decision... you can see where this goes. Just like any gov't agency, the layers of pointless bureaucracy and ridiculous political restrictions that built up over the years turned what should have been a quick and simple roundup into a pathetic joke.
