Cold TBI

    Is my 350 w/TBI supposed to idle high when its cold out.(Its 5 degrees F)

    It seems to idle normal right after a cold start...just doesnt seem right

    yeh my idles up for about 10 secs after a cold start(around here thats like 25-30)

    not nessisarly, it uses a solinoid to allow more or less air around the throtle plate to ajust for loads or cold starts and that will case the idle to incress enouf to cover up the load but not by much. so if it still runs smoth when cold dont fix it.

    thats the result of your IAC, that is what one of the Controls the "high" idle. if it dosnt work anymore, or gets frozen in the closed position, it will not alow for the controled vacuum leak that causes the high idle when the engine is cold. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
