Well I got a MP3 for Christmas and somehow got some spyware on my computer. I have Symantec Anti virus and have run Ad aware and Microsoft antispyware. They have found a couple and took them off the computer but my desktop has been changed to a notice that says the computer is infected and I can not get it off. Anyone have a better anti spyware or idea why the desktop is stuck? Thanks

Yeah the Trendmicro house call should help you. May have to do the scan in Safe Mode to get rid of the spyware virus tho.
IMO Norton is the worst anti virus scanner out there. When I get a new computer Norton is usually the first thing I delete.
Trend Micro is way better.
Or try: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1 I have been using AVG Free on one of my computers for over a year now. It works great. Very user frendly program and doesn't use a bunch of resources.

Symantec's Norton Anti-Virus is just the most common AV on most Personal PCs. Most viruses, worms, trojans and other mal-ware are writen to try to get around Norton AV since it is the most common.

Look in the Add/Remove Programs section in the Control Panel to see if anything has been added and remove it.

The first link works fine for me. If the second wont work, do a search for "Trend Micro" and look for thr free sweep. You may, as suggested above, have to put your computer in safe mode.

If it's spyware, "spybot - search and destroy" works pretty well and is free at www.download.com

Good luck.

Try going to Control Panel > Display > Desktop and see what the Background is set to.

Try changing it in Safe Mode.... Reboot and tap the F8 key while it starts. This will bring you to a Black screen with white writing. Choose Safe Mode.
