Anyone know a good way to tell if the power supply is going bad? I can start it up and it might stay on for 5 minutes or 5 hours but as soon as I hear the fan in the power supply start getting extra loud the monitor will shut off then the computer powers off immediately afterwards. I'm guessing power supply but could it be anything else??

I need my "net fix" and BOTD :D

Fan pulling to much amperage? CPU to hot?
    Air vents clogged?

Maybe unplug the fan and see what happens. Fans are cheap! Especially Jeep fans!!!:D

That's my bet too. Power Supplies do go bad though. Some computer places will test them and your motherboard for free. Check around your area.

The vents are the first thing I checked. It's been up and running since 6pm now with no problems. I built the CPU about 2years ago so it is fairly new. Of course I think I paid $40 for the case w/power supply so it wasn't that much

At one point I went through 3 power supplies in about 6 months. My motherboard eventually went too. I think it was overheating due to my Voodoo 3 3500 card, which is a very hot graphics card.
