I have an 88 K5 what is involved with replacing the computer
Cost and time? Should I do it myself?
    Thanks,

It will take about a half hour. Just remember to use a ground strap to avoid static electric charge from frying your computer. It is a simple job that you can do yourself. Just pop out the glove box, disconnect the harness, unbolt the strap that holds it in place and it's out. Install new computer.

The question is more probably, "do you need to do it at all" As long as you know why you are replacing it, thats fine, but its very common for people to replace ECM's because they think its the problem, when its not. FWIW.

Why insist on counting when the ring gear has the tooth counts stamped in?
