My console is all broken and stuff and I need another one. Has anyone gone with an aftermarket one instead? Like the Tuffy ones that lock, or the Steelhorse ones??? How do they fit? Something high enough to use as an armrest would be nice.

I have a Cheezy plastic one for a mini van that I got for $25 at Wallfart. I actully like it. It's not as wide as the stock one but it has 4 cup holders and a double bin with a lock. Easy enough to smash but what do you expect for $25. It has survived 2 years of wheeling. The rear sits on the bolts for the seat belt. It has 2 long screws to hold it to the floor and it sits dead level.

When I find the time, I'm going to build me one out of steel. I would get a Tuffy but it ain't exactly what I'm looking for. Besides, I can make one for dirt cheap and just to my specs.

If it's stupid but works, it isn't stupid.

I just got the Tuffy Stereo Security Console. It is heavy duty with a tamper proof lock system. Two drink holders a special compartment to mount your stereo (so it doesn't get stolen when the tops off) and it is plenty high enough for an arm rest. I mainly got it for two reasons, 1: my center console had seen better days and 2: I just got a new CD player and I did not want it to get stolen the first day I had my top off.

It is a quality product and it costs $261 delivered to your door. You do have to drill 3 or 4 holes but it uses grade 8 bolts to keep it secure.

    Check it out at: <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tuffyproducts.com>http://www.tuffyproducts.com</A>

Sorry abou t book but, I just got it and its a great upgrade.

I was just looking at my LMC truck magazine last night and noticed they sell a console just like the original ones. I don't remember the price though. Everything I have gotten from them has arrived before they said it would and are pretty good quality. I replaced all the seals on my shell and got all the seals from them. They fit perfectly.

LMC (1-800-222-5664) says theirs is not a reproduction (it does look close though) and sells for $170. Part #38-6921.

I also just picked up the Tuffy Deluxe Stereo console, very nice product, I plan to
install it tonight. I paid $210 delivered to my door, it took 5 days. Very nice
    product.

Where did I get such a good price? Check out ...

I talked to the owner for a few minutes, they are mainly a Jeep shop but
are thinking about expanding to full size Chevy's. They can get anything
    that Tuffy makes.
