Friend started talking about this Dana 44 with drum brakes another friend has. I am looking for an 8 lug front axle and this has 4.10 gears which I would really like. Does anyone know about converting from Drum to Disc dana 44? Would my Blazer's stock calipers be useable on a dana 44 Disc setup?

Just tell him "no thanks". /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif Besides having drum brakes, those early 44's also used smaller steering u-joints. By the time you fixed it up to be what you want, you could just buy one with all the goodies. There's an ad in the For Sale forum right now for a Dana 44/14-bolt FF combo, with 4.10's, for $500. Even if you add another $300 for shipping, it would still be a better deal than the prices that you've been gettting quoted locally. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif
