Oh yeah, this should bring some good Bubba jokes.....
Yeah, I liked his comment, "It popped out of gear!" The idiot just caused a major traffic hazzard because he wasn't smart enough to put it in park when he gets out, and his big excuse is that it popped out of gear??? I haven't heard of automatic cars popping out of park for 20 years!!!
Don't they ALL require you to "Depress the Brake to Shift from Park" now...?
So..... the magic gremlins pushed the brake on and 'popped it out of gear'?
I have heard of some recent recalls where it doesn't engage park correctly...can't remember if the Ford CV was one of them though. The only difference between park and nuetral is the park pawl, so if it doesn't engage the car would just roll away like that.
Pretty embarrassing anyways.
I've heard the same thing. Don't know if there's any truth to it though. Although, when shifting to "P" my shifter seems just not right and I'm slightly over paranoid about it slipping when I'm outside.
Had a guy have his big new ford truck roll right into the front window at the cafe, it apparently slipped out of gear too...
There was a problem with some of the Ford CV's popping out of park. Don't ask me how I know. Most agencies have a policy about engaging the parking brake though when stopped. So, even if there is a mechanical malfunction, the policy nazis will still get you. I do have to say, the guy ran like a spaz though. I would be sprinting like a scalded ape to catch up to the car before it hit something..
