Shoot around corners, over walls, without exposing yourself.
Though we all enjoy exposing yourself, now and then.

During WW 2, the Germans had a extension for their MP 40s. It allowed a crewmember to stick the barrel out the hatch and hose any personnel on top of the tank. I'm sure that accuracy was not a factor.

This one is from the Israelis. It has a camera and the monitor that you can see in the bottom photo. It can broadcast to others what it sees also. :eek1:

I watched it and a couple of things struck me. One, a lot of them use a Glock handgun. Some of them had better firepower but the handgun seems kind of useless as a long range shooter. Two, you still have to be very close to the corner, top of the wall, etc. to use it. Any decent weapon can pass through all but the better concrete, steel, or very thick wood. Once the enemy has identified your position, they simply unload on the corner or wherever you are hiding behind or even toss a grenade your way. There is a good chance you will have to back off, or take a hit. The whole thing seems more like a novelty to me but there might be some urban applications. The show I liked better was the review of the new Israeli sub gun, the Tavor: http://www.israeli-weapons.com/weapons/small_arms/tavor/Tavor.html

    That's pretty damn cool

I wonder how hard it is to make the thing battlefield reliable though...

They had a pretty long show on the Tavor and apparently it has passed trials well enough to be the new issue for Israeli troops replacing the M-16.

Saw that one too, it seemed to be fairly accurate as well (at least from the show material)

Yeah I saw that, I always have liked the bullpup functionality, if not the asthetics. I looked at a Bushmaster bullpup at one time.

I was referring to the "around the corner" gun though.

Ah, I hear that. So many moving parts and very complicated. As an aside, there used to be a company that made a bullpup conversion for the Mini-14. I liked it because here in the People's Republic of Cali, you can't have anything that remotely resembles an "assault rifle". The bullpup design reduces the overall length of the gun without reducing the barrel length.
