Ive got a new oil pan from a garage sale in denver. it is a Wysco WA9005P its supposed to be for a 65-79 305-350 according to a site that sells em. At the time it looked the same and said chevy sb 350 on the box. IT was cheep enough but will it fit my 85 350? aren't they the same through the years? if not anyone want it?

IIRC 79 was the last year the dipstick was on the drivers side. In 80 or so it was moved to the passenger side. I don't think this will work with your 85 350...

I honestly have no idea about years, but i know my 83 had the dipstik on the Pass side and my "new" motor has the dipstick on the drivers and it came outta early 70's car

Dorian ran the numbers on my 350 and found out it was a 1980 model year motor (1 ton van, 4 bolt mains...) and the dipstick is on the passenger side.

Sorry the pan won't work Duke...

Rope seal and driver's side dipstick. 79 was the last "official" year of the driver's side dipstick. Somewhere in 85 or 86 they began switching over to the one piece seal. I say "somewhere" because I've seen two vehicles that were built in 85 but were sold as 86's and had the two piece seal.

You can pick up a pretty orange one from Summit for less than $30. The local race shop sells universal pans (both side dipstick) for $36 which if I knew that I'd bought one of them instead of my pretty orange one from Summit.
