Decided I need to add some country music to my list. Not much of a country fan more of a hip hop / alternative / heavy metal / classic rock. I already have a couple newer hits, just wondering what some good stuff is.

On another note anyone see the discovery special with Jesse James and Kid Rock in mexico? What cover did Kid Rock do at the hotel. I want that song pretty bad.

I think I know which song you mean... just not 100% sure of the name. It should be something along the lines of "leave this long haired country boy alone" or "long haired country boy" , if we're thinking of the same thing.

Anything by Hank Williams Jr, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson. For newer stuff, I really like Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, and there are a few more that I can't remmber right now. "Pancho and Lefty" by Willie and Merle is one of my all time favorites.

    WOW /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

It does my heart good to see quality advice given out in this thread and nothing about this new fangled crap of today. While some of it is good, it's few and far between.

There is a new "hard rock" version of "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" that is out, but I just couldn't get into it.

Here's some more, Red Sovine, Don Williams, Johnny Cash (Los Lonely Boys, I'm kicking your ass for fawking up teh cover you did on that commercial /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif). You really can't go wrong with the traditional stuff.

Hell Yeah, this crap they try to pass off today for country music isn't country music by anymeans. Los Lonely Boys can kiss my ass, they have no right to cover that song /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

Try looking up some Texas Country:

    Jack Ingram
    Cory Morrow
    Pat Green
    Roger Creager
    Jason Boland
    Cooder Graw
Cross Canadian Ragweed (an Okie band...)
    Reckless Kelly
    Robert Earl King

Anything by these guys are great!

Try Looking up the Highway men:
    Waylon Jennings
    Jonny Cash
    Kris Kristopherson
    Willie Nelson

I like to consider myself an 'old school' country listener, any crap they play on the radio isn't worth my listening. I do like Dierks Bently and Gary Allan and Brad Paisley.

Singers like Toby Queef can suck it. 'Nuff said

Yea, the sad thing is being up here in yankeeville, I would never have known about this music if it wasn't for Bryan (laketex) moving up here. People up here just don't know what good music is for the most part.
