Couple o\' simple questions that I should know the answer to...

I'm running a carbureted 350, Edelbrock Performer Carb, mild (similar to an RV cam) cam, and headers. About where should my ignition timing be set? I have it at 14 degrees, currently, and it seems to like it.
Also, about where should I be setting the idle speed? It is an automatic w/A/C. I have it at about 1000 RPM, but I don't think that is right. Any help would be appreciated.

Idle speed without the ac on should be 600-700. Timing is dependent. Run as much as you can without pings in the motor. 4-6* BTDC is stock I think. I ran 8-12* with my carb.
