Want to save some money and hassle? Just go ahead and get a steel one. The fiberglass ones warp in a couple of years and fit like $h!t. /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

I don't have one, but know people who do. It sucks to spend $450 for a hood, then another $200-400 getting it painted, only to have it warp a year or two later. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I AGREE!! I have had some hoods that have warped, had zit's come out after they were painted, and generally fit like crap! Harwood is about the only company I would buy a glass hood from, but even theirs aren't perfect! I have seen several steel hoods and they look great!

A buddy of mine had a 68 Camaro RS/SS original 396 BB and it had a small fuel fire the fiberglass hood caught fire and melted over the top of the motor and burnt for a long time, water made it worse and it took the fire department 3 minutes to get there by that time the front end was toast. If it was a steal hood it would not have been as bad. He always had problems getting it squared up too.

He just had it judged at super chevy for $24K in value, he only had it insured for $18K though /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

    Hi all,
I was also looking for a f/glass cowl induction hood for my 86 k5, I was looking for fiber glass to save on shipping as I live in the UK, now i think I'll pay more in shipping and get a steel one, anyone know of any companies who will consider shipping to the UK.
also i need a new tailgate.

I have the Goodmark steel 4" cowl on mine and love it. Awesome fitment, doesn't vibrate. They reinforce them with alot of bracing so they don't "shake" or "vibrate". Shawn has a glass one and hates it! I think I paid $425 for mine.
