Just installed my new crate motor, and I love it. I am so happy I spent the extra $$ for it. It is nice to drive the truck and not look like Puff the Magic Dragon. Now I get to start the rest of the truck, the wife is not going to be happy.

The generic 350 that fits up to '85. I got it for a little over 1400 with tax(cheaper than on the web w/ shipping).

Are you happy with the performance of this stock motor.I currently have a weak 2 bolt 327 looking to upgrade.I'm sold on the warranty but wondering how much difference in torque i'd notice.Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same motor in my old truck (if your refering to the 4bolt main), although I did drop a Summit Cam, high volume oil pump, and a couple other things into it. You would not believe the diff. in that and the old warn out 305 w/120000 on it. It was deffinetly worth the money to swap it out.

I had a stock 350 w/ about 120k on it. And the difference is huge. I would have liked to upgrade a few things on it to get a little more power, but the wallet was too lite to really do it. I figure I will get my power when I get another '69 Camero.

Where did you get the motor? I have a 305 that I can't wait to get rid of.

    Johnny Reb,

I got my crate from Jim's Pace Parts. Go to "www.paceparts.com" It cost me $1249 + $130 for shipping to MD. I think they are based in Ohio or somewhere around there. Definately a great motor. I'm not even on my first thousand yet.

Did you install it yourself? That's where I lack experience.

I got mine locally, it was $1340, I saved about $50 over the Pace engine w/ tax vs. shipping. My dad and I did over the long weekend, we had a nice garage setup w/ a lift, very nice. See what Pace wants to ship to your location, and check w/ your local GM dealership. It was over $200 shipping from Pace to OKC.

I am saving up for a big block[IMG], so I'm stuck with my crappy 305[IMG], but it will be worth it in the end[IMG].
