Is that what the nice salesman told him?
...then why did car and driver love the chevy more that dodge or ford? What could be better than the tractor tranny they put behind the new more powerful chevy diesel?
There have been many test preformed and chevy has out pulled the ford every time. I saw one test where they put the compotition on a trailer and pulled it. The ford is a heavier truck. Well, with the lighter chevy on the trailer, the ford could not out accelerate the chevy with the heavier ford behind it.

everytime that guy talks all big about his ford just say...."tisk, tisk."

    Chevy rules!!!!!!

OK I'm not a big Ford fan...that being said the F350 with the powerstroke is a decent truck, yes a truck...solid front axle, real frame, stump puller deisel etc etc...

I like the new duromax deisel in the Chevy and the allison tranny is cool but why is it not offered with a solid front axle? When is GM gonna pull their heads outta their a$$ and build a truck again?

    Just my opinion...flame at will

Just the looks are enough. Fuds are too friggin ugly. They're trying too hard to make it look different, and to me, most fords now look hideous, like giant tonka trucks that didn't come out of the mold right (xterra's too) (although I'm not thrilled with GM's new look to the hummer).
A sales guy I work with had an Explosion (y'know, the biggest one they make to carry lots and lots of groceries), and he's turning it in early because "It's just cheaply made. Plastic pieces fall off all the time, it's a year and 1/2 old and it's been in the shop 3 times already, brakes went at 12,000 miles..."

Thats stupid. I remember reading in one of the truck magazines a little while back about how they compared the big 3 Diesel trucks and how the Duramax in the Chevy had better acceleration times than the Dodge and Furd.

Now, I am not trying to make anyone mad, but personally, I think the Ford Super Duty series are pretty good and decent trucks!!! I like those F-350's and the Powerstrokes, too. The solid front axle really helps, too!!!! [IMG]

Well, before the Duramax, GM's diesels were lacking big time.

If he bought his new in 99, then I see why he did want a Chevy....

But If he wanted a serious puller in 99, He should have gotten a Dodge! That Cummins is a lot better puller....

But now that the Chev came out with the Duramax, it is on top followed by Dodge and the Ford.

Now if Cat would only come out with a Light/medium duty diesel, it would make the Duramax look like wind-up toy!

BTW, i was watching a show on TV the other day and they said that the Cummins diesel in the Dodges are actually not a light duty diesel, but a medium duty..

Chevy couldn't pull the hat off his head??? Heck a Ph**d couldn't pull a fat lady out of a donut shop! That's why he had to buy an F350 to be on even keel with a 1/2 ton Chevy. To compare apples to apples, tell him he could have bought a half ton Chevy to do the same job as a the F350.

I agree w/ K30. I really like those new F#rd Superduty's. They look sweet and are a great truck overall. I hate the looks of the new GMC/Chevy's unfortunetly.... it just doesn't click w/ me. Especially those taillights... yuk! I still think I'll take my Older GM's over a newer F#rd though. Gotta love the 73-87 (91 blaz/burb) Era trucks [IMG]

Actually a girl at my church in the group I lead... her parents bought the same Ford only a 2000 model... I have to say it's a nice truck. The axle is what I like best about it. I agree with Rene about why doesn't the Chevy have this on it? I am not fond of newer trucks anyhow (plastic no matter who makes them!). So I'd gladly take my 86 against anything newer... I know my Blazer is way different then a 99 350 Super Duty....but I still think it's way better and kicks tail for all around use!

Not to start a brand war, but I run a 96 F250 because both me and my father had loads of trouble with our late 80's chevy's. We both haul heavy campers and boats regularly. After being treated like sh!t on more than one ocasion by GM warrenty service, our next trucks are both Fords, and both of us have been happy with the treatment we have recieved from Ford. If GM would get rid of the IFS crap, and take better care of there customers, maybe a few might come back. I think The new superduty and RAM still top the charts as tow rigs. The duramax is nice, but IFS just plain sucks.

I like the Ford Superduty's and the new Chevy HD's. They are both awesome trucks...BTW, I think any trucks are going to have some problems, last time I checked, neither GM or Ford was anything special, but I would definately never buy a Dodge.

ok what is the big problem with the IFS, granted it can't flex as much as the solid axle, however, these trucks are made to tow, esp the 3500 series, no one is gonna rock crawl with them or actually take em them to a hard trail, these rigs are brand new and not many people are gonna take their newfound investment onto a trail that requires lots of flex and wat not. I still wish they had straight axles but i think the ifs is fine for the application. this is just my opinion.

I am chevy man but a ford F350 is a bad ass as far as new trucks go the new HDs are nice but that damn IFS is the reason I hould not kick a hog in the ass for one now if the had a CAT C-10 10.3L(350HP 1350flb) and an open kunel dana 70 the ford would not have a chance

cat dos make a 7.2L that I thank might fit in a chevy HD but form what I have heard about it is that it is not all that good of an engine

but that c-10 10.3L now your talking or even better the C-16 15.8L(600hp 2050flb)
