Ok I bought a 71 K5.......after inspecting it after I bought it.....it has more rust than good metal. I have a donor 72 cab. the cab has a little surface rust underneath, but is still solid....everywhere that I can see. Can I just cut the door pillar and floor section out of the cab (up to the fuse block and over the hump) and just cut the same section off of the K5 and relpace the whole thing??? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gifObviously bracing the welds where it would go back together..
    THANKS FOR ANY ADVICE

    Aaron,

DO IT! You're dad has the skills.....and you'll be WAY ahead by grafting in GOOD metal instead of patching what's there. The "catch" will be the lower rocker box which doesn't exist in the p'ups.

I heard a rumor that someone is about to offer those rockers (finally!) as an aftermarket item.... /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

OK so when cutting it.......I was thinking about center through the front door support across just below the fuse block, up and over the hump. Is there a better line to take than that???? I have saved the rear door supports too so far.

I'd take as much "good" metal as you can off the donor....

Might want to consult with dear 'ol Dad on how HE might want to do it, though. I'm sure he'd appreciate having a "say"....... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

    Aaron,

Those GMC ones ended up being pretty clean....only a couple small areas of bondo.

The grill mounting area makes them less useful than the Chevy ones, but I'm still pilfering the "lip" off them and experimenting with new wheel openings....

I'll take those other fenders, next time your around these parts, or next time I head out that way.....

    Thanks!
