As any lounge lizard knows, I love me some credit card rewards. The other day, I came upon an especially good deal. Went down like this: 1. Chase Freedom offers 5% cash back on purchases at grocery stores this quarter 2. So, I bought $300 in Lowes gift cards at Safeway. 3. Those GCs combined with $200 other gift cards I bought earned me $1.00 off per gallon on Safeway gas station gas. 4. I took the Ranger to the nearest safeway gas station and got 18.6 gallons (tank holds 19!) and paid $2.95 a gallon for it. 5. How did I pay for my cheap gas? You guessed it, Chase Freedom, for another 1% cash back. 6. Then a sale came along on the cedar fence boards I need for my fence in the back yard. Spend $150 or more and get 10% off the total. 195 boards later I had saved $38.xx 7. How did I pay for the remainder of the fence boards (above/beyond the $300)? You guessed it, Chase Freedom, for another 1% cash back. 8. Fun doesn't stop there though, I did "in store pick up" across the river in Oregon at a Lowes that is on the way home from my work commute. Benefit? Saved 9.x% on sales tax. Isn't credit awesome? I'm gonna see if I can't put Chase outta business. As always, I have the cash and will pay off the entire balance before they even mail me a bill. I will tak'em for all their worth in rewards though.
