I am interested big time in the spacer. Will get pics tonight. I'll compare the crossmember in my 79 with my 86 and see if it matters. What adapter are you using old (fig 8) or new (round).

So then I assume that you are using the newer round 205 adapter along with the spacer? Do you have that crossmember?

Mine is using the adapter that came with the NP205 and therefor mounts to that crossmember. Do you have the crossmember that goes with the 205 that you have?

No, I got the 205 out of an 87 1 ton,I tried to get the crossmember but the guy would not sell it,are most of them the same?,have you looked at both of yours yet ? I have a line on one out of a 79 -205 but don't want to buy it if its not going to work.

I've got an adaptor that was between a 400 and 205 out of an '86 K30. This is the round pattern short adaptor. Is this the one you used?

Mark, I remember you and me talking about your adaptor some time back. You had sent me a pic of yours and if I remember right, you had a spacer made to fit between the adaptor and the 400, right? Or was it between the adaptor and 205? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Ok I uploaded pics of glencanyonexplorer's spacer, and pics of my 79K5 with 4L80E/NP205 (spacer between 4L80E and old style NP205 and crossmember), 86K30 with TH400/NP205 (new style NP205 and crossmember), 78 sub TH400/NP205 (old style NP205 and crossmember), 93 K2500 4L80E/NP241 (drivers drop).

You need to look under "K5 & 4x4" and under "GM trucks" to see all the pics.

Ok, now I remember that pic. And I remember you saying you used the short input 32 spline 205.

What I want to know is what would it take to use the long input 205 to make it work with the 4L80E? Same spacer like you guys used?

So it sounds like you have new style adapter with a line on an old style crossmember? Now here is my thoughts on that:

I think that would work, you could and a spacer to bring the flatter old style crossmember up to the correct mating height for the new style adapter (shorter).

If you had the opposite - were trying to mate an old style adapter (long) with a new style crossmember (humped up in middle) - it would not work - or require a significant mod to the crossmember.

Buy the way - don't tell Wes what the spacer cost you until after you sell it to me /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Dan,Thanks for the pic's I think I'll try your idea about using the early crossmember.I think I can have more of the adaptors made if the need is there.
