ok, so im tearing apart some salvage yard dashes to save anything good out of them, when i come across an idicator light panel (like fasten seat belts, choke, brake, etc) x-cept this one says "overspeed". does anyone know what this was for and how it was hooked up. i dont remember finding any special hook ups or wiring. there was one light bulb looking type socket with a metal tab for a wire but i dont remeber if it was in that particular spot. any info would be appreciated. thanks

IIRC, at least on first gen Firebirds, you could set the speedometer (or something) so that it would trigger an overspeed light too.

Is this a truck dash?? If so, never heard of anything like this for a truck!

I've seen one in the past. It was in a car with a manual transmission. It was preset to come on if the engine reached a certain RPM, I guess to hint that you might need to shift to the next gear. Never could seem to keep the thing turned off.........

I think Han Solo's Millennium Falcon used that to go really fast...it would take too much modification to install somthing like that, my brother put one on an old nova and it was nothing but a PITA.
