I spend far to much time thinking about suburbans. If you're interested in what a shortened burb would look like click "pics" below, then the "thinking out loud" album. If I ever get an extra burb body, and time, and money, and a hundred other variables, I might actual try this. Check it out.

I was there till dusk. I didn't notice if that one was played or not. Just hung out and talked to folks. I didn't realize it earlier, but there was a Oregon Bushhackers run today! I was going to go, but couldn't. I want to start doing some runs, so I signed up with them today so I will know ahead of time when runs are. It would be nice if we could all get a little more organized and get some full sized runs going. I would organize and put up posts for runs on here, but I know jack about any trails around here. Come on some of you PNW trail studs, we need a little leadership here.

Hey, I liked the bumper better when it was on your roof!! Just kidding, it looks good. We wondered how you fared on your drive out of boise the night I picked up my axle. It took me 5 hours to get to boise that day and about 11 hours to get home in the snow.

    anyway...

Yeah the trip back was long. We didn't even make it half way that night because we didn't leave until late. Then the next day we got stuck in the pass because of a jack knifed semi. I had zero traction problems though. The more than 1000 lbs. of parts I carried inside and out of the burb helped I'm sure. All in all it was a good trip.

Well I deffinetly wouldn't be the first, I'm sure it has been done before. It would certainly help with the departure angle though. In any case it is all speculation, it's just a pipe dream for now. Right now I would be happy just to wheel the boat I already have. Soon! [IMG]

Why not drop a Crew cab body on a burb frame and make a flat bed? Could put the sadle tanks on it or put a fuel cell in the bed. Make the bed strong enough to handle the bashing. Hmmmm that would be interesting. Put one of those HUGE sliders tops on it.

I have thought of that. I think a person would be better off taking a full size crew cab and shortening the frame and bed (if you kept the bed) just past the cab. That way you would have a heavier duty frame and already have the one ton axles. I thought that Titanic was doing a shortened crew cab project like this but I haven't seen much from him lately.

Nope Titanic will come back looking like White Knight. He's getting a S Blazer body on a cut down frame.

I have been kicking aroung the idea of coil spring or coil over rear suspension, and then stretch the wheelbase so the overhang is less. Thought about using pickup patch panels to move the wheelwells back. Just have to make sure you don't high center. Also have been thinking about a full convertable with a full cage, and the crew cab idea. Would like to make a shortened box with the altered wheelbase. If I could cash in some favors with my bodyman friends, AFTER I get my other projects done. [IMG] [IMG]

You can cut a good size piece off the overhang, the gas tank is back a ways..the 25 and 31's I dunno about the 40's. the spare tire hull would end up useless after you hack the rear up[IMG]. Anyone ever make a burb a blazer for a full hard top ala 92+ style??? Would be a lot of work but would be cool in a 2wheel drive..
My friend is doing the crew cab on a standard cab long bed frame, hackin off the excess frame and doing a flat bed. Sometimes I wish I had done a truck cab, but I like the wagon style better.
