I just pulled my front shaft and I think I may be in luck. The centering ball looks ok, but I haven't pulled the u-joints yet. So I might be able to just swap the u-joints, right? What should I look for on the ball? The shaft is from a '73 NP203 w/ a Spicer style output yoke. TIA.

You can get a rebuild kit for the centering ball. They are a pain in the a$$ so you might as well while you are there. There are some needle bearings and a spring that no matter what you do, will just go everywhere. Can you tell that I like them?

Pulled it apart and the centering ball needed replaced, too. That actually turned out to be the easy part. The casting where the clips snap in cracked. Oh well, thats what welders are for /forums/images/icons/wink.gif
