    D44 and 14bolt... gear ratio\'s

Ok... so, since we have established that I know absolutely nothing about gearing I have a question for you all. Feel free to laugh or make fun... do what you gotta do, but answer the question /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If I have a 14bolt rear with 4.10 gears will I be able to match the front D44 to 4.10 gears? I remember someone telling me that the gear/tooth was 4.11 with a D44.

I know, I should try calling a gear place, but I figured I would try you all first.

    Thanks

eeerrrmmmm... i've never had a d44... so i dunno if its true that you cant get 4.10s in them... what i DO know tho is that its no biggie to have SLIGHTLY different gear ratios. 4.10 and 4.11 would be fine.

they do not need to match exactly they could be rear 4:10 and front 4:09 or 4:11's and you will be fine you just cant go with like 4:10's in the rear and then 3:73's in the front that would be a big no no

Well, I AM a genius... /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif but only when compared to some... some dislexic pot smoking 13 year olds. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

I am finding out all too quickly that a degree in particle physics might sound really cool and might look real good on my resume... but it means absolutely nothing when I'm laying under my truck. /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif

OK you are allowed(by whom I'm not yet sure of) a 10% diffrence between front and rear ends when using the same size tire on both ends.
Now If you were to say use a I donno, like 48" tire in the rear and lets say 40" tire on the front then your ratios front to rear would HAVE to be over that 10% diffrence to make up for the circumfrical diffrences in the tires.
