Hey kids.... before Blazer Bash, i thought id pack up some spare D44 front axle shafts. My front end is from a 1977
and the spares i have a chance to take are from a 1972
Will these work ? I was under the impression that they are the smaller light duty. Lemme know .... thanks. TORI

'72 D44 shafts will interchange just fine with the newer D44 stuff. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

'72 D44's are also classified as the "first" design along with the '73-'76 axles, too. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

They will interchange just fine if you use the complete axleshaft(innershaft,u-joint and stub shaft) together and swap it in. The 72 had the same splines for the carrier and the stub shaft, but has a smaller u-joint. They will work good for spares.
