Doesn't need to be rebuilt or have lots of new parts....I just need a decent starting point for an 8-Lug conversion. (good housing, gears, and shafts)...

I'm in the San Jose, CA area.....so proximity to that location is important too....

I have 1st Gen Lift parts (4") to trade if anyone is interested, or it can just be a cash deal....I'm looking for a "fixer-upper" to save money, so let me know what you've got! [IMG]

i got a 6 lug one,but i am converting it myself. i can however sell the ring, pinion and carrier out of it. i dont need them. this way you can just find an empty axle if you need.
say 125 for all of it?

Well I've got a "basic" 4" lift for someone who's looking for something easy and cheap.....it's a set of 4" front springs, and 4" blocks for the rear, and a set of raised Trailmaster shocks for the front. I've got the rears too, but there still installed on my K5......[IMG]

You'd still need brake lines, dropped pitman arm, etc. But this would get you most of the way there.....

    Tyler,

Thanks for the offer....I'm not sure I can drive that far for a "bargain axle".....

I don't suppose you have any other desireable parts too......TH400/NP205 combo.....for example.....to make the trip more worthwhile???? [IMG]

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for something locally, but I do appreciate the help.

    Les,

I ordered a set of custom front leaves from ORD.....9 leaves in the pack.....REAL soft.....flexy!!! I've been waiting for about 4 weeks already.....but I should have them in my greedy-little-hands by about this time next week!!!!

I am thinking about holding on to the extra springs for now.....I have that extra frame that I'd like to convert to a "rolling chassis" so I can move it around as needed. It would be nice to have a similar lift on the "extra K5" to check clearances and so forth as I start fabricating all my new "goodies"!!!!

I got my new welding helmet from UPS yesterday.....and I'm hoping that the MIG shows up today or tomorrow.....[IMG]

BTW -> 34 cans of Brake Cleaner and counting as of today.....looks like I'll be ready for sandblasting this weekend though!!!!! [IMG]

    Mike,

Seems sort of counter-intuitive doesn't it? The reality is that MORE thin leaves are a lot softer and more flexible than a leaf pack of the same overall thickness with fewer leaves!!!

    Case in point:

My current spring pack only has 3 leaves, each one is nearly 1/2" thick. The spring rate is over 700 Lbs/in......the new ORD 9-Leaf pack will be 237 Lbs/In.....Almost 3 times softer!!!

Also as a point of comparison.....National Spring is a fairly well-known custom spring manufacturer....their designs can go anywhere from 10 leaves to 14 leaves in Blazers. It's a LOT more work to use all those small leaves, and more chance that the pair will not match in exact spring spring rate.....so the costs are quite high.

    "believe it....or not!" [IMG]

very interesting.. i learned something at least.

as for your dana 44 its sitting on a trailer waiting for you to drive down to san diego and pick it up. Will you be anywhere near LA this weekend or next? Either in 2 or 3 weekends, I think I might goto Vegas for the weekend with my girlfriend.. maybe if you could meet me somewhere around there, preferably off I-15

    Mike,

It looks like I found a "local" D44.....it's in pieces, but the price is right (aka "CHEAP"![IMG]). These days, I've got LOTS of time, but no money.....
