Found some real cheap full length front Dana 44s out of a variety of vehicles and am wondering if the axle shafts can be swapped into ours- Cheap trail extras! Thanx

I don't think so, only reason I say that is I have a 6lug D44 spring under on the side of my house. I got it for free. I haven't tore it apart to verify but by looking at it the pumkin is way closer to the pass side knuckel than on my GM D44. So from the way it looks the short side is too short. I have a feeling the long side won't work eaither. Come by and pick up that D44 for free and tear it apart if you like[IMG]..
Any body want a 6lug spring under complete from hub to hub(auto hubs)........???Come to central CA and it's yours..

There are definately differances, what they all are, I cannt tell you. I just know I have front and rear Dana 44s under a Jeep and the axles would not fit anything GM. Only replacements for Scouts are Scouts as far as I understand. Thats why I got rid of them and went to Chevy stuff. Much cheaper and easier to find.

I think the only thing that may be the same is the carrier, gears and cover. I stress the word "may".

i was wondering the same thing, so i went to an aftermarket web site and looked at stronger replacements and noted the part numbers that were the same...if i remember right, a few of the outers are the same, but the inners all seem to be different. sorry, i cant recall the website address, but it was like randys, superior, moser or something like that.
