D60 15\" rims... 2.75 or 4.5 backspacing?

I just got some rims for my D60. They are basic 15x10 black mods from 4WPW that I picked up for $42 a wheel. They came in 2 BS depths, 2.75 and 4.5. I was concerned about how much I might have to grind and the tires rubbing the frame (42x15x15 TSLs) so I got the 2.75 one. But, I test mounted one this weekend to see how much I would have to grind and it didn't hit the caliper at all.

With only about 6" of lift and inner fenderwell trimmed to the tub and the axle moved forward 1.5", am I going to have problems with the tire cramming the tub? Should I have gone with the 4.5" BS wheel?

What backspacing do you guys run on your 15x10 wheels on a D60?

I had 6" lift with 40"s and 4" backspacing and I hit down in Moab. I put on the 3" body lift and moved the axle forward 1.5" and now it does not hit that I can cause. I tried to get it to hit but it seemed to clear. You might be ok. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Oh yeah, I had major fender trim. It hit on the firewall.

Yeah that is wher I am now and woth only 35" tires, they rub on the firewall.
I could fit 44 inch tires now and the only place they would hit is the firewall, so I am going to move my axle forward a little, and a body lift maybe, and see what will fit.

2.75" is about the most BS you can have and not grind the calipers. If you exchange them for the 4.5" BS wheels you'll be doing some SERIOUS grinding on botht eh caliper and the caliper bracket. I'd stay with the 2.75 probably, the tires are going to stick way out and the tires will probably rub the body a little more, but I don't think that I would be comfortable grinding as much as you'd need to with the 4.5.

I have 4 1/8" on mine. It took a lot of time to get the clearance just right. I only went as far as I needed to. I will be running 15" on Donna's K5 and will be getting 3" backspaced wheels since that will only run a 15x8" wheel instead of 10" wide like on mine.

I have the Black Rockcrawler 15x10 8-lugs from 4WPW. I didn't measure the backspacing, but I think it is around 4.
I had to do some caliper grinding on my D60, but I did not think it was excessive. I still have way more caliper meat there than I did when I had a 8-lug 10 bolt.
I like my backspacing despit the fact I had to do the grinding. Don't want the wheel too far out.
Having said that, if I already had those 2.75s, I think I would keep them unless I ran into problems.

Do your wheel look like this, minus the mud?

Mine look very similar but only have 8 holes or so. I have a pic I will post tonight.
