I've read hear and there that a ford van pitman arm will work for the crossover on a d60---i went out and got one from a PNP and it looks like it will work but the taper for the tie rod end is too small (ie its tapered for a 1/2 ton, and i have a 1 ton TRE on the draglink) what can i do---get it tapered for 1 ton or just drill it out and put a heim in there?---problem w/ getting it tapered is im having a hard time finding someone to do it, and i already have an in w/ a guy to get heims.----my truck is amlost ready i just need to get it outta this guys shop

Went through the same issue. What you have to do is find a machine shop that has the taper. I found one and it cost me $40 to have it tapered for the 1ton end. Just bring the pitman arm and the 1ton end to a machine shop and ask them if they got the taper for it.

Yep! I have a taper tool. I had to do the same thing. To get the 1-ton joint to fit. /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif

Just get an '78 or '79 F150 4x4 drop pitman arm, like from Superlift, part no. #1104, and be done with it. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

tie rod = less expensive and better availability

heim = easier to install (thats about it) /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

You have to have the 2wd output shaft to use the ford pitman arm.

BTW, my pitman arm was reamed out for the TREs...
