ok, got another line on a D60. Weird thing is, its supposed to be stock... and the guy says its 35 spline. Its from an "early 80s" chevy 1-ton truck. Did any chevy D60 ever come from the factory with a 35 spline carrier, inners or whatever (im not an axle guru...). Is there a type of D60 from that era that I *don't* want? ANY info/advice would be appreciated!

    TIA! /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

My understanding was that all the GM front Dana60s had 35 spline inners.

Though there is always some obscure exception, and someone will be kind enough to tell me why I am wrong. haha

Yep, all D60's (GM) had the 35 spline inner shafts while all the short outer stubs are 30 spline.

ok then... cool. While we're on the same subject... got a 2nd question. Is converting to 35-spline outters as simple as getting new outter shafts and hubs or is there more involved?

Simple conversion job as to installing new u-joints.

And yes, you will need new lockout hubs.

sounds simple enough... who makes relatively inexpensive outters? I know warns are good, but they cost an arm/leg also. /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif
