This has been a really bad week. I'm glad I can handle it.
    Let's start with Saturday...
My daughter and her boy friend went snowboarding for the 1st time.
They came back that evening and he had compound fractured his wrist.
He didn't even know who bad it was until he got here and took of his glove.
It was pretty sick. We sent them to the hospital.

I got drunk with the boys on CK5. (good thing! Cyber drinking is leagal in most states still)

Sunday, my daughter took him back to the hospital because of pain.
My wife managed to get him hooked up with the doctors that work on the Broncos. Surgery went good on Monday. Titanium plate and he's good to go.

Monday, I get a call from a friend that said "our friend Don was found dead in his apartment. He was a great guy' always with a smile. This was tragic news.

Monday night a 2:30 am, I get a call from my son and he is in jail for a DUI.
These are very common here in this area where we have more cops per capita <sp> then almost anywhere in the country. It's hunting season.
(sorry officers but this is a resort area with lots of cops and little american workers)

Today, I find out my friend went to breakfast on Sat. morning, then went to Gart sports and bought a gun. He went home and barricaded the door way and shot himself. I really can't believe he did it. It's like a dream or something.
I have a hard time understanding how someone can do it.

This evening, I bailed my son out. If he looses his license, then I loose my only other service tech. and even though he was just getting better from the pneumonia <sp> and surgery on his lungs. He has basically been out of work, on and off since Thanksgiving.

Our work force in the area is dropping fast and I can't find any guys worth a dam to work with us. I've been doing 24/7 now since Jan. 21st.
If I can't hire anyone, I may sell the business and move out of Colorado.
I need a state where most of the work force isn't in prison and have drivers licenses.

I'll get back to you on any comments because I need to call it. I have a long day tomorrow with work, my son and my friends death.
I think I'm missing something else that happened but I'll get back to you on it if I remember.

    I'm sorry my friend.
One of my closest friends blowed half his face off in front of some other guys and gals with his 45. Guess it was for a more dramatic death. He was always a bit different, but I never imagined he'd do that. Wow, been over ten years now. Still miss him and wish I could show him my trucks and crap like that..............

    You're in my prayers, dude!

The North Carolina/Virginia mountains might be a choice.

I own a Plumbing & Heating Co. called Locals Choice.
Thanks everyone, no worries here, just wanted to vent a little.

True! and so does "Times of no employees" :D
Forget the work out equipment, ever try pumpin a 500lb boiler?
Hell, I've lost some weight and I'm in better shape then ever.
By the time I hit Florida the girls should call me a stud :haha: .
Oh, I do need to buy stock in advil too because their making some good money off me.

We are all having a get together tonight for our lost friend. I'll let you know how it goes.
I really feel I will be pushing up my time to leave Colorado and head to FL. permanently just because I feel like I've been lucky here to not get nailed.
It's not like I go out and get smashed or something but if I get caught having a couple drinks like tonight, the biz will be done.
If they didn't hunt people down so bad here, it would be fine but their really out of control.
It's all about the money here and the odds aren't good.
Locals here don't hardly go out anymore and socialize/talk over problems etc.
maybe that helped my friend pull the trigger? I don't know :dunno:
A guy down the street shot himself in his driveway a couple weeks ago too.
Also a girl my son was going to go out with (friend) drove her car off a cliff last year and on to I-70 last year (DOA). She was only in her 20's and had a kid too. I wish people would fight back instead of giving up.
It's happening more and more in this small community.

The driving factor for my friend-
I'm not sure but like I said, he seemed like a really happy guy and we all loved him. He owner a awesome pizza joint out here and decided to sell it and change to an easier life. Well, the guy that bought the biz from him, never paid him and sold all his equipment. Everything he work so hard for went down the tubes. It's still no reason but I guess it might have been enough :( .

Dayum Dave, sorry to hear about all of that. :( I hope things get MUCH better soon.

"Suicide - A permanent solution to a temporary problem." Bummer that your buddy went that way.

Keep that in mind when you sell your business! There are a lot of scumbags on the planet. Don't do an "owner finance" type of deal. If the buyer can't get the cash from a lending institution, there's probably a good reason. :eek1: Make sure that you leave 100% compensated for all the years of building a good name for the biz. :cool1:

Where in FL are you heading to???

Not that I'm trying to rationalize it out, but more times then not, the person genuinely believes that ending their life is the only solution/resolve left. I don't see suicide as a cop-out (I don't judge), but rather I see it as an example of a person who is so inundated with what they precieve to be problems and hardships that they can no longer continue to battle or overcome. When you look at it from a third party perspective, it's just a down right shame. If you can look at it from their point in view, in their mind set, it's a bit more understandable.

Having said that....a person who can take their own life is scary - a person who can take their own life with a clear mind is terrifying.

Dave, prayers sent. If there is anything us Colorado guys can do, let us know. Even if it's just driving up to the hills and putting away a few brewskis with you.
