i have a 91 K5 blazer and the front end looks like a dana 44. My friend said that some of them came with 44's. The guy from randy's ring and pinion told me they all had corporate 10-bolts. According to my axle guide it is nothing like a corporate 10-bolt and looks alot like a Dana 44. Anyone got any advice? I would also appreciate any help you have on identifying axles (i.e.- websites with serial numbers or where to find serial numbers on the axle)
    Thanks

If it's a D44 it will be stamped on the lower right of the 3rd member housing. It might say D44F or something like that. My 1990 has a corp 10 bolt in the front.

It should be a 10 bolt unless someone else has swapped in a D44.

Sounds like the D44 was swapped into your Blazer. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif Nothing surprising as everyone is swapping axles, etc.

The D44's last year in the Chevy line of trucks was in '80.
The GMC line ran them up to '82 and then went 10 bolt full time like Chevy's did.

when you said lower right side did you mean drivers or passenger? The drivers side says GM8 on the driveshaft side of the housing on the passenger side it says 14030378.
    Thanks

Driver's side. If you are looking at the front of the truck it will be on the bottom right of the 3rd member housing. To the bottom right of the differential cover.

If it says GM8 its a 10B. Look at the guide Grim posted, if it doesn't look like the Dana cover its a 10B. The pic in that guide is not of a front 10B so your's will not look exactly like it.
