Any differences between the early and late design D44 housings from the knuckles in?

I believe that some 77 trucks (half year production?) had 3" axle tubes.

My '71 D44 has 2-3/4" dia axle tubes and my '77 D44 has 3" dia tubes. Of course the spring plates and required u-bolts are different too! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I can tell you that I have a "76" D44 housing with 1/2" thick axle tubes, and I would like to give it away. It also has the knuckles on it still and no it does not have passenger side flat-top. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Yep, thats it, just the tubes are 2 3/4" on the pre-'77 and also the stabilizer mount on the pre-'77 is on the driver side rather than the center of the axle like the '77 and newer ones have. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Yeah, 77 Blazers went to a fuel door instead of the exterior "cap" style cover. I like my cap cover :P
