A local salvage yard has what I think may be a Dana 60 Front from a GM. I cnat get a good look at the front cover to tell but I can see a few casting numbers on the rear of the pumpkin.
Anyone know if I can tell by these numbers, if so, What number would I be looking for? There is a number on each side. One side has a number that starts with GM and on the other side it is a series of numbers(about 5)

    Thanks

Most of all of these "sleeper Dana 60s" are just that. They're usually Dana 44s. a quick and easy way to tell is to see how many stud/nuts hold on the steering arm (on the driver's side knuckle). If there are 4 - 1/2" studs with 3/4" nuts on top, then itsa 60. If it has 3 - 5/8" studs with 15/16" nuts on top, then itsa 44 or a 10 bolt. Good luck!!
