I was wondering if and how many people on this fourm have broken a Dana 60 front? When I say broken, I mean anything on or in the axle like u-joints, spindles, ring and pinion, etc. Also, I would like to know what size tires and engine ya'll had. Thanks

Never put a stupid move passed a stupid person.

This is not me personally, but this is what I have witnessed with my own eyes from friends. 6.17 pinion shattered, using 44 boggers. 5.13 ring gear teeth missing. using 42 swampers
in a mud race. two stub shafts broken with 44 boggers rocking back and forth when stuck big time in muddy soup with large rocks and tree roots underneath.

IT'S A 1 TON THING.... IF I HAVE TO EXPLAIN IT, YOU WOULDN'T UNDERSTAND!!!

Broke a stub shaft recently, rockcrawling, but not abusing it any harder than a I have before. I put the axle in 2 1/2 years ago after going through it completly. See sig for specs, the motor is fairly stock.

Wasted a joint and both axles on the short side this weekend.
Reverse cut 5.13's, ARB locked, 35 spline stubs with warn hubs, NEW spicer shafts as of May this year, 468CI, Doubler and TH700 in lowest gears, cut 42" TSL's, full right turn in loose dirt but with a lot of pressure, and the front line lock on. OOPS. I used it much harder before this happened, but brake pressure adds a lot of torque.
I was told the cross landed around the rear tires.

Why 4 do you have a line lock on your trail rig? It would make sense if used to spin the rear end around if used in 2 low, I take it this was not intentionally done?

If you saw Steve driving his rig this weekend at the rock crawls you would know why he uses them. I loved watching his technique going around tight corners to miss flags, locking one wheel and using the front to pull him around (SWEET!)
Pictures to come soon......nice job Steve, wish I would have got that on film. There was nothing left except a couple stubs.
Never thought you could break that machine.
