just scored a dana 60, not sure what yr its out of, no axles, or locking hubs, it was free so wasnt worried about it, everything else was there. I want to put it in my k5 8in suspension lift, but has anyone ever tried a homebrew crossover steering? parts r expensive up here in canada with the exchange and all, if so whats involved? an axle and hub ques..... Ive read that the mid 80's and up axles dont neck down is this true? and are the axles all the same for all yrs. chev dana 60? same length and spline and joints? my problem is that ive found a place i can order new spicer axles, but they have to be ordered in and there is no return deal, so I want to be sure. I got the part numbers off the pirate website , anyone else used there part numbers to order axles? Id like to go with chro mo axles and 35 spline outers but the high strenght axles are a bit pricy here in canada with the exchange rates. the 35 spline outers may be a possibility though, anyone have a part number for the 35 spline hubs and spicer outers? any help would be greatly appreciated, thxs in advance.

When ordering new shafts from most vendors today, you will be getting the non-neck down shafts. I don't think they make the old style anymore. None the less to answer your question you would want to order shafts for a `85 and up K30. www.4wdfactory.com will have all the parts you need. Greg Youens, owner, can help you out with any other questions you may have.

As for cheap home brew crossover, there are many ways to do it yourself. If this rig is going to be driven on the street I advise against it. You don't want to put others lives in danger due to rigged steering?

    where are you?
best to get a positive ID on the axle prior to ordering stuff for it
could be a dodge for instance
if it is a chev there is pretty much only 1 kind so order away
