I am just about sure myself on this one, but anyways...

Dana 60 tubes are larger than a 10 bolt tube, correct?

    Thanks

Ok, who can tell me what the exact diameter of the Chevy D60 is vs the 10 bolt? Reason I would like to know is I have a stabilizer bracket setup that is on the 10 bolt right now, but I would like to swap it over to the new 60 going in...just will need some new small u-bolts to bolt it on to the D60 axle tube...so I need to know the size. Of course, I guess I could just go home and measure it!! Duh! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif Maybe someone will respond before I get home...otherwise I will measure the axle tubes and get the measurements for ya!

Never mind, I just went to the next page of posts and saw the answer - looks like the front D60s are 3 1/8" diameter...cool, now I can get those u-bolts to make it work...

By the way, my Ford friend says that his front Ford D60 has a thicker diameter axle tube - is he right, are the Fords thicker? Or was he just wishing they were? (He just broke his 30 spline stub shaft and couldn't believe the size difference b/w the Ford and Chevy axleshafts! The Chevys are much beefier than his!

    .
    First design D44's (up to '76) have a 2 3/4" diameter tube.

    Second design D44's and 10 bolts ('77 to '91) have a 3" diameter tube.

D60's, from what I have measured and gotten u-bolts for, have 3 1/4" diameter tubes.
