Am thinking of going with a doubler and taller gears. The original 4.88s are in there now, it's an early '70s SRW full floater I took out of an International 1-ton crew. What are my options as far as taller gears fitting? The carrier is an ARB locker. Thanks

Are we talking about a front or rear D60? Your sig seems to indicate its a rear...

Now! If its is a front, there is a split in the carrier, and you can only go as low as 4.56 unless you get the 4:10 and under carrier.

Yes, we're talkin' rear. I know there are some limitations on ratio selection because of carrier design. I'd like to go taller, to 3 point somthing, if I go Doubler. I put the original 4.88s on an ARB 200 000 miles ago.

Find a dana 61, my Dana 61 FF has 3.31 gears.....some 61's go even lower into the threes!

Check for them in Ford 3/4 pick-ups & 8-lug vans.

    Good luck!

Sticking with that housing, you can go up to 3.33 - if you can find them. 3.54 will be the more common "tall" ratio. As already mentioned, you'll need to go to a 4.10-down diff case. That sucks if you have a 4.56-up ARB... and it won't fit in a Dana 61 either /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Is there a matching 3.54 ratio for the 10-bolt? (Only 3.23, 3.42, and 3.73, IIRC.)
