I'm a little confused about these axles...I see 1/2,3/4 and 1 tons on ebay...I had set in my mind that a half ton Dana was a 44 and a 60 was a 3/4 and the 1 ton was a D70 with huge brakes...can someone draw me a clearer picture

Just when you though you knew it all lol

1/2 ton is a 6 lug Dana 44, 3/4 ton is an 8 lug 44, and 1 ton is a Dana 60. This applies from 77 to *around* 80, when Chevy started phasing in the 10 bolt, and 82 when GMC started with the 10 bolt. From then on it was 6 lug 10 bolt, 8 lug 10 bolt, and a Dana 60.
