I would like to run a higher gear in my truck. I was thinking of 4.56, but I was reading that I would have to use a different carrier in the dana 60. Is this true? Does anyone have an idea what gears came with a 1983 GMC Jimmy 305/700R4/NP208 ? I am going to run 33's but plan on moving up to 35's in 2004 (when I get back to the states). Any help would be appriciated. Did I mention that my truck does 90 MPH in O.D. @ 2300 RPM with 31's? This kills me and the engine, it just has no power.

It's a Dana 60 and a GM 10 bolt. Do I need a new carrier in the Dana 60 to run a 4.56 gear? I don't know what the stock gears are.

If yer truck is "Bone stock" as your signature says then it'll have 10 bolts front and rear...
