Busted on the gas lines. $250.00
This FN State (Mass) has just got me so pissed off. There is just no place to go wheeling anymore around where I live.
Well really there are lots of great spots but wherever you go you are trespassing.

I had just turned off one of my favorite trails to hit the gas lines down to this beautiful pond and chill out and take in the scenery.
We had just stopped and the wife sees a dirt bike coming down the lines. She was excited to see some other people out there playing on the trails.
As he got closer I noticed this guy was packing and there was a little Mass State environmental insignia on his handlebar bag.

Anyway the guy was cool and we ended up talking for a while.
I think that he had a cool job, cursing around on his dirt bike all day in the forest and get paid, not bad. It just sucks he has to give out tickets for trespassing, I mean we were on the trail, not ripping up nature or anything.
I think he could of told us to just go on our way. Maybe he was not so cool.

    Gutta find some new places

    $250.00 ticket +$40.00 gas =$290.00

In Michigans lower peninsula ALL state trail/roads are CLOSED unless posted open. In the upper peninsula it's open unless posted closed /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif.

Yes it was posted and I did know it. My self and many other people have been going there for years.
About ten years ago I got busted on my quad but have not had a problem since.

When I got busted on the quad it was $25.00

    $250.00 is a hefty fine

As i was pulling them out the fish and wildlife guy came up. Yea he was pissed. He said I may or MAY NOT get a 100 road closed ticket. I was like fine. I reacieved two tickets in the mail. One for 100 and another NEGLIGENT DRIVING $490!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I guess i wont do that again. I really have no one to be mad at but myself. I knew i was on a closed road..

man- its great to be a woman with pms.....here's my thougts on your stupidity........

before I get to the good stuff- let me just say I KNOW why people post their land. John's mom has 200 acres, her house was built by the Army Corp of Engineers...they have a bomb shelter, numerous "barns"....and trails all over the land.....that said- regardless of how many times we tell people we find....its posted, your tresspassing, etc... regardless of how many signs we put up......we are still EVERY weekend in the summer, picking up beer cans, trash, fixing things they damage, trails, tree's, etc....its more of a PIA than anything else, and also- in the "sue happy" land we live in today, it's also a liability....

    that said. here's my thoughts.

This is the reason people post their land...EXACTLY this reason.

okay- I"m off to take some Midol. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif....forgive me, its not my fault, its in my genes

so what is a privat land owner to do...open up the property to everyone? do you realize what would happen to the land they own? I'll take picture through out this summer, of the sh*t we deal with regarding posted land, and cleaning up after people who BREAK THE LAW and ride on it.....then see how long you'd keep your land open.....dont get me wrong, we ride, we have quads, and dirt bikes, etc... but NEVER do we go where its posted....if we need to use a private piece of land to get to another trail, prior to riding we get permission from the land owner, that piece of RESPECT goes a LONG way....

    *guess the midol isnt working**

Not To mention that if he did that, there would be a lot more tresspassing and many more people like Brandy picking up after those trespassers.

My thoughts exactly. You just kinda asked for what you got. You should be lucky the fine wasn't higher or that you weren't escorted to jail or that your vehicle wasn't impounded.

You feel like sharing that bottle of Midol? I ran out yesterday and the weather and road conditions(2 inches of snow and about 1/2 inch of ice) kept me home today.

I can do the time, but can I not be pissed
    .
Yes I knew I was trespassing you can requote it any way you want.

The gas lines are trails, it all just sand. (maybe I was killing sand bugs or something)

If I had been that stupid the truck would have been impounded and I would have been in the slammer for the night.

I don’t have a problem with the guy doing his job

So I guess i am a bad boy

    Mudnurl

I understand your points and dealing with trespassers on your land sound very frustrating. My cousin lives in Weston VT and he is chasing snowmobiles all winter.

yeah if the land was posted you have no place there. I have seen what people do even when they have permision to be there on someones land and they thrash it. It realy makes me wonder why people are such arses and makes me fell the enviro-nazis are almost justified.

It has happened and is happening right now, your favorite wheeling spot is being deemed closed or "open to existing roads and trails only" by the federal government /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. WAKE UP FOLKS! Get involved now, or don't and lose YOUR ACCESS to public lands. It's up to the public to stand up and let them know we want to be able to access our lands /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif. If we had that, there wouldn't be much temptation to trespass /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif on private property. Sorry, this post got to me, Rant off......

    Here's a little info.
The same company that owns the pipeline in Nicolet nation forest in WI, owns pipe lines in MI. State laws in WI are set up to were you can run them. Cross over to MI, liability laws force the company to close them.

Heck, in MI if the road is not passable in a non-erossive manner with a passanger car(2wd) then it is considered a trail. "Trails" are for vehciles 50" wide or narrower, bikes/quads. We had topographical maps from the 50s/60s that showed roads that the DNR wouldn't let us run due to the mud. More of the non-erossive crap /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif.

Oh, yeah. DNR can come in and declair your mud pit, on private land, a wetland. Thus off limits and fine you to clean up any oil/parts etc left behind /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif. Can't cross a stream if you own both sides, must have a bridge.

But loggers can clear cut and destroy for miles.

PS, was the land state/federal or private?
If private, shame on you. Fed/state /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif econuts!
