Well I pulled out my friend with my winch the other day and ever since my battery keeps going dead. I disconnected the winch because this is the first time I had conected it in the two months I've had the blazer. It still keeps going dead. I can jump it off very easily with like 10 - 15 seconds of charging off my wifes hyandai. I disconnected the positive battery cable with it running and it kept running. so I diont think its the alternator. The battery sticker says it is only 18 months old though. I'm gonna take both to get them checked tommorow at autozone. Just thought I would run it through here first. The winch is a Viking winch. I think its a 10,000lb. they havent made them since 77 . Its a worm gear driven with I think it says 90 : 1 pullin ratio. Any ideas? and whats the cheapest way to do a dual battery set up? thanks in advance!

Was the engine running when the winching was being done? Sounds like you have a couple of dead or dying cells that will not hold a charge in your battery... Get it replaced under warranty. A dual battery setup might help somewhat in this kind of situation if it was the winching that killed the battery...

I swapped out the battery with a brand new one and she cranked right up. luckily no one saw my wife jumping off the blazer. I think one of my solenoids might be stuck open. how do I test it?thanks
