the column? who cares about the column? You use a floor shifter and you don't worry about it either way. I just threw a 4 speed column away when I got rid of every scrap of K5 metal.

Too bad you two threw your columns away. I would have been glad to take them off your hands for the cost of shipping them so I didn't still have an automatic column in my rig.

yeah in hindsight I kind of wish I pulled it before the body went to the scrap yard. Only thing worth saving probably. Oh well stupid mistake on my part.

Myne is setting in the corner of the garage. Hopefully the SM465 will be setting next to it in the very near future.
If I drove the damn thing the 4 speed would stay but my ol' man drives it and poppin' that clutch just aint all that great on artificial hips.

interesting responses here, i didnt expect such a variety, haha but i kinda liek it though

sad to see soem of the columns have gone to waste, IMHO the truck four speeds were great, and some say i hope to come across an old NP435CR that they put in some of the trucks including GM, hardest to find in the GM ones i believe, i have yet to see one so far. i know they have aluminum top instead of iron one,

youll think three and reverse when you have 2000+ lbs in back of truck pluis pulling full size trailer with loaded full vehicle on it and are glad that you have that granny gear in that tranny /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif would be hella lot better than any auto trans, for sure, having such granny gear has saved my a$$ more times thatn ill ever remember /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

4 spd column, I have one, check the for sale forum /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. I should probably keep it for when I tear up my tilt column pulling myself into the truck /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif, really gotta get some grab handles.

Four speed columns are the same as auto columns 'cept they don't have the shifter and shift indicator...

They're referring to a steering column for a four on the floor equipped truck. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Re: what do you guys do with the 4 speed columns when you convert to auto ?

I have a 4 speed non-tilt column, but I don't want to get rid of it quite yet. I was given a tilt column out of a 4 speed truck (a rear beast it seems) and I'm not sure I like it yet, so I might swap back to the non tilt.
