I'll be rolling into Denver a little before noon on Saturday, and leaving a little after noon on Sunday. Any sightseeing ideas or suggestions?

I tried searching the net, but people want me to pay for tours and crap :angry1:

    Edit:

And for those that know "the plan"... no mentioning of it please :) What I've said on IRC is still a suprise for Gofergurl :D

What are you looking for? Mountains, stuff close to Denver, stuff in Denver? Downtown has some cool stuff, Boulder as well. Estes Park is a great place for scenery, Idaho Springs has a lot of history, Central City/Blackhawk have a lot of casinos....pretty much...what would you LIKE to do?

BTW, give me a shout when you roll in if you want to get a beer or something

Bodyworlds at the Denver Museum. That's getting alot of press. Actual human bodies, stripped of flesh and coated in polymer, posed in all kinds of action shots, like kicking a soccer ball, etc. FAAAAAAR out man. Follow up with dinner at the Chophouse, and drinks at Sing Sing.

I was thinking stay in the denver area on saturday, and try to find something pretty to look at on sunday. I need to drive 8 hours back to Wichita on sunday, so the latest I was planning on staying would be around 3 PM.

All I can say is that I'm bringing back pictures and having some fun. I'm excited to go and have no intentions of asking anyone about the suprise. He wanted to tell me, but I protested it.

    Elitch Gardens Amusement Park

If you drove South for an hour to Colorado Springs you could see the Air Force Academy and Garden of the Gods. If you drove North/NW for 1 hour and a half you could make Estes Park. 30 minutes into Boulder will get you the Flatirons and Chataqua park.

    Ask Mrk5, Interceptor, or Firefighter184

They much more familiar with the Denver area runs.

There's a couple of easy ones south of Estes Park..and anywhere around there has a great view.

    http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php

Check there for stuff you might like and look for mainly Larimer and Boulder county when looking.

    Hrm good site.

Middle St Vrain or Johnny Park Road look like a fun trip. You get much rain recently?

    Fair enough.

I'll probably take a trip down one of those two listings. Won't be attempting many obstacles, just want to get out and enjoy the scenery and still be able to drive home.

Hey Jagged I take it they don't put a mileage or time limit on how far you can go over a weekend down there.

They put a 4 hour time limit on things here anything over that and you are supposed to be on leave, and you have to fill out a stupid form if you go out of the area whether you're on leave or not. If they catch you going somewhere and you didn't fill out the paperwork it's your ass!!!

A section of the entrance to Johnny Park is bordered by private property, make sure to stay on the road. It should be posted.
