Well, I have seemed to misplaced my detroit locker installation instructions and I am at that stage of my gear install as we speak. This is on a 10.5" 14 bolt FF rear. Don't I just drop it in to a carrier half and then bolt the other half on then remove the little bolt that runs through the middle of it to hold it together? I was reading on a site that it had to be taken apart and adjusted and all this junk but I don't remember anybody saying anything about that.... /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif

No, do not take it apart. If you do take it apart then it has to be put back together a certain way (the instruction say how, but why bother cince you shouldn't take it apart anyway.)
Drop it in there, bolt the carrier back together, then remove the little bolt w/ washers through the carrier hole for the axleshaft. That's it.

Thanks, ok one last question and I promise I'll go back to the garage and leave you all alone /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. What is the torque on the pinion housing bolts? The 6 bolts that hold it to the housing? I couldn't find it anywhere...

I bought a new sleeve at the dealer and got it set right this time. No flying vices or breaking work benches tonight /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I hope you remembered to remove ALL of the thrust washers. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif The ones for the spider gears and for the side gears have to come out before installing the Detroit Locker or it won't work right.

Then all should be well. When taking apart a standard open diff to install the DL, you have to remove all of the existing thrust washers. There is one behind each spider gear and each side gear. But if you started with just a new carrier than you're locked and loaded. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
