Down the road from my house there is a lady that works at the gas station that has a older body style S-10 with a stepside box, I asked here about it and she has no clue about it. I did not look real close but it looks OEM but it is missing the gate. I am just wondering about it has any one seen anything like this before.

The later S-10 Extreme's had step sides. Don't think I've ever seen a 1st Gen S-10 with one, but I'm sure some aftermarket companies offered them with how many mini trucks there were around in the 90's.

Never seen a step side in person, just some in the mags in the 90's. A guy I went to school with had an extended cab with dually fenders when bought new. Don't know if it was a dealer option or factory but it did nopt have dual wheels just big fat on meats.

My brother in-law had one, but it wasn't factory. His and another I have seen both had chevy luv beds on them.

Nope not factory. IIRC they are FS beds cut and narrowed. Dealer promotional stuff, saw a few Yota's with the same bed.

only older Yotas i've ever seen with stepside beds were fiberglass. come to think of it, those were the only Yotas i've seen with beds, the rest were sacraficed to the rust god.

My neighbor had a 4X4 1st Gen S-10 P/U, factory/dealer? Stepside with aluminum diamond plate around the bottom quarters and roll bar w/lights. Black and silver. Great looking till he wrecked it...........

    Yes they did!

I bought one new in 1987. it was black, with silver & white stripes on the side, a little fibergalss stepside bed, with a tonneau cover.. top of the bed sides were diamond plate, and it had a tube bumper on it. Otherwise it was a standard issue 2.8 truck with the 7004r tranny, etc.

It was called a "park avenue", (the nameplate was glued to the gate)and from what the dealer told me, they were regular s-10's sent out to a conversion shop before sale. I've seen a few GMC's done the same way, and one time even saw my truck's twin at Norwalk raceway park, with a blown smallblock. I didn;t have a camera, but I wanted to line up my truck next to his for a picture sooo bad..

anyway, when I get home later, I'll dig up some pictures and post them.

I've never seen a 1st gen with a factory stepside, but I definitely remember seeing them with aftermarket stepside beds.

well, my truck was "factory" like the 4th gen SS camaros were "factory".. they got sent someplace before they were sold to the public. I'll get those pics up later, I'd like to see what the steel bed looks like. I know mine was 'glass.

    1987 S10 stepside pics

Here they are. The pic where you can see the tailgate was the day I brought it home from the dealership. sticker was 18 grand, I got it for 13, and trading my 77 longbed GMC pickup.

I had it up until about 3 years ago.. I had given it to my wife (then gf ) back in 1999 ( when I got the 84 K5 pictured), and it got wrecked bad in 2002. The thing got rear ended so hard, my wifes head came thru the back window.. thank god for the tube bumper and draw hitch..

Enjoy the pics, and know that yes virgina, there was a 1st gen factory stepside S10.

Now that you mention it, I do recall seeing an early fullsize stepside back then, and wondering if it was the same bed.. I "think" mine was a bit smaller, but I never actually checked. I know they had the same little tailights..

I got pulled over by a cop once, who wanted to know where he could get one just like it..
